Trained in fine art sculpture, Sia Taylor creates jewellery with a painterly approach, drawing from a palette of precious metals. Flashes of colour come from her unique use of varying carats of gold and not from conventional diamonds and coloured stones. These light catching pieces create soft yet striking rainbows of colour. Inspiration comes from ephemeral sensations and the miniscule details in nature - the movement created in her jewellery reminiscent of the sound of falling rain, the wind through long grasses… Crafted using highly precise, ancient techniques, the work is an almost meditative process. In the calm of the Somerset countryside, her latest collection Songbird continues her exploration of playing with colour and movement – immortalising cascading feather-like plumes in her now signature pallete of precious metals.
